My name is Gina and this is (or will soon be) my book blog.
There's just something about books. There's something magnetic about a universe inside a story, where all you have to do is turn the page (or tap the screen) and you're there. You're there right alongside the characters, trying to figure out where the pages are going to take them.
I'm unapologetic in my pursuit of all things awesome when it comes to books. I read science fiction, horror, urban fantasy, contemporary romance, thrillers and mysteries. It has to engage me mentally. I don't like the idea of reading an "easy" book. The emotions have to be there. The story has to stick in my head for days afterward. The characters MUST seem realistic and three-dimensional. The main protagonist has to be likeable. The storyline must be original, or if not, there must be a redeeming quality.
Don't ask me what I think of Twilight.
Here's the thing: People might describe my reading hobby as somewhere between avid and addict. I read a lot, then I post extremely honest reviews on Goodreads in hopes of either steering someone away or convincing them to read a new book or series they might not have given a chance otherwise.
While Goodreads is great and all, it doesn't fulfill my need for world domination and doesn't get the word out there enough.
So here I am. Posting here. For YOU, internet.
I want to change YOUR mind about books.
Think of this as an Oprah's Book Club... except the books aren't terrible.
